Today I am sat in rehearsals for Friday's performance of Mahler 2. This is the first time I have heard it with the orchestra. I am singing in the chorus. The chorus sing only in the final 10 minutes or so, but this creates a truly spine tingling moment when we do join in with the orchestra. We begin singing 'ppp' (which for those of you who don't know musical terms means extremely quietly) and by the end we are singing top B flats marked 'fff' (extremely loud). As you can imagine this is Romanticism at its height.
Soloists will be : Elizabeth Watts and Sarah Connolley I would invite you to join us at the event live, however all of the tickets have been sold out. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS... that you can watch the event streamed live on the internet via the Royal College of Music's website. Find out more at http://www.rcm.ac.uk/events/listings/details/?id=370870 See you there (if only digitally) xxx
