"I've talked to my staff who are both VERY positive about your impact yesterday. One in particular, commented on the insight and depth of technical help that you were able to give to the students - of which she had felt unable to." - Assistant Head Teacher, Cheadle Hulme High School VOCAL COACH / SINGING TEACHER / VOICE EXPERTJennifer is an experienced vocal coach for competition adjudicating, workshops, TV, or anyone who wants to learn more about how to use their voice. This coaching can be applied to a wide range of scenarios including how to improve the singing voice, to learning how to project the spoken voice for a presentation or speech. With a classically trained background in opera, she can easily adapt to different singing styles including Pop and Musical Theatre. Most recently Jennifer appeared as an opera expert on a documentary talking about the effects of smoking on the operatic singing voice (Video Below). As part of this documentary, she gave Comedian Jayde Adams her first ever singing lesson, with a focus on breathing in order to encourage her to quit smoking. A passionate and forward-thinking teacher, Jennifer believes in teaching a solid foundation of technique to support a range of repertoire and corresponding theory work tailored to each and every pupil and their personal goals.
Past pupils have included professional dancers looking for singing coaching for upcoming musical theatre auditions, a professional jazz singer and trumpet player wanting help with finding his true sound, and an Irish violin player who wanted the confidence to perform her own songs. Future plans include being invited to be an adjudicator for a national singing competition in the UK. Jennifer has also been requested to begin English language accent coaching for Professional Actors in Belgium. Jennifer has experience teaching all ages and abilities. Most recently she taught for the Royal College of Music teaching service in London, bringing one-on-one singing lessons to children and adults in central London. Prior to this, she has experience working for One Education (formerly Manchester Music Service) for groups of Primary School children, and Children with special educational needs. She worked at Alderley Edge School for Girls as a peripatetic singing teacher; preparing both primary and secondary school pupils for ABRSM exams. Jennifer has also worked with Cheadle Hulme High School creating a legacy for singing within the school; beginning with workshops for year 7 students and starting an after school choir. She also provided Vocal coaching for the school's full scale musical Annie. Jennifer also volunteered for two years with The Royal Northern College of Music's outreach project Youth Perform, where she assisted in leading an opera, a Musical, several performances, and an outing to the theatre. Ex-pupils have gone on to gain places at Performing Arts Schools (including the RNCM, Brit School, RCM Junior School) and one girl gained a lead acting role in Hollyoaks. Her individual approach to every pupil works particularly well with adult learners; many of whom are able to finally find the confidence in singing for pleasure, or in preparation for that big show or audition.
