In July I flew out to Santander in Northern Spain to perform as part of the Encuentro de Santander Music Festival. I performed in several concerts there with a wide variety of repertoire including:
Britten: I. Let the Florid Music Praise (On this Island) Britten: II. Now the leaves are falling fast (On this Island) Britten: III. Seascape (On this Island) Turina: Cantares (Poema en forma de canciones) Schonberg: Arie aus dem Spiegel von Arkadien (Brettl lieder) Handel: O that I on wings could rise (Theodora) Puccini: O mio babbino caro (Gianni Schicchi) Eva Dell acqua: Villanelle Adam Gorb: Wedding Breakfast Turina: I. Preambulo - Lo mejor del amor (Dos Canciones) Turina: II. Cunas (Dos Canciones) Traditional: O can ye sew cushions (Unaccompanied) Delibes: Flower Duet (Lakme) Verdi: Caro Nome (Rigoletto) It was quite challenging, with repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the 21st Century in 6 different languages (English, Spanish, German, Italian, French and a made up language in my contemporary piece). It was a great opportunity and I even had this awesome article written about me in a Spanish Newspaper called “Alerta”.
